The SmartESVE Sensorbox v2 has three inputs for CT's (current transformers), a voltage input to determine the direction of current flow, and a P1 port for reading a smart meter (DSMR 5, mainly used in the Netherlands). The connection to the SmartEVSE is via a 4-pin plug.

The sensor box can be connected to a smart meter with the P1 connection. Use the supplied RJ12 cable. The smart meter must support the DSMR 5 protocol.

Tested smart meters:

  • Iskra AM550-TD2 (OK)
  • Landis+Gyr e360 (OK)
  • Sagemcom T210-D (OK)
  • Sagemcom S211 en T211-D (OK)
  • Kaifa MA304H4CNL (OK)

It is always possible to use the current transformers if the smart meter is not compatible or available.
These must be purchased separately, and are of the type SCT-013-000 or SCT-010TL.

Furthermore, the Sensorbox has a status LED, which blinks orange when power is taken from the grid, or green when it feed back to the grid.
The program port can be used to reprogram the module with a micro-USB cable (not included).

Placement of the sensor box
To be able to measure the total current of all devices, the sensor box must be placed near the mains distribution panel.
If a suitable smart meter is installed, it can be connected using the RJ12 cable.
Otherwise the current transformers (CT's) should be used.

If CT's are used, the voltage input (220-240V) must also be connected.

Clip the CT's around the loose phase wires, try to find out which wire is L1, and connect it to connection 1 of the sensor box.
From the same phase a voltage connection must be made to the MAINS input of the sensorbox.
Then connect the CT's of phase L2, and L3 (if available).

Make a 4 wire connection with the SmartEVSE, using the 4 pin green plug.
Cat5 cable can also be used for this wire. The length of the cable can be up to 100m.

The delivery consists of:
Sensorbox 2
RJ12 to RJ12 data cable, length 1M
Power supply cable IEC-320-C7, length 2M
