The Smart EVSE Sensorbox has three inputs for CT's (current transformers), and a 4 pin socket that provides the power to the Sensorbox and connects to the Smart EVSE controller's A/B +12V and GND connection.
Please NOTE! The Sensorbox does -not- come with a current transformer by default.
The current transformers are of the type SCT-013-000 or SCT-010TL and can be ordered with the Sensorbox.
In order to let the Smart EVSE controller dynamically adjust the charge current, you will need to set the controller mode to SMART.
The controller now expects to receive measurement data from the sensorbox every two seconds.
If it does not receive any data for 10 seconds it will time-out, stop charging, and display an error message on the LCD.
Placement of the sensorbox
In order to measure the current of other appliances, the CT's should be clamped on the MAINS wires directly after they enter the house. Usually three CT's are used, one for each phase. Connect the CT's to the Sensorbox, and use a 4+ wire cable to connect the Sensorbox to the Smart EVSE. Cat5 network cable can also be used. You can make the cable atleast 100 meters long.
The Sensorbox has a led, that will bink every time a measurement has been sent to the SmartEVSE controller.
This is version 1.5 of the sensorbox, that is also compatible with future modbus software versions of the SmartESVE.
The previous version of the sensorbox can be reprogrammed to have the same functionality.
The current measurements can be monitored from the LCD of the SmartEVSE.
If neccesary the current measurements can be calibrated by using the CAL menu option on the controller.
The Sensorbox comes pre-programmed, and it does not require any user interaction.
If you want to change the software and reprogram it, you will need a Microchip Pickit or ICD3/4.
The software can be downloaded from Github
